Kota Kinabalu<br />UNDUK NGADAU 2010lx_d@rtistehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01269676475358006089noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184119570069545127.post-58298712734743332032009-12-13T12:51:00.000+08:002009-12-13T12:53:15.128+08:00Preserving Kadazandusun Language Should Start At Home: Pairin<span style="font-style:italic;">Published on: Friday, April 22, 2005 (Daily Express)</span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">KOTA KINABALU</span>: The preservation of the Kadazandusun language should start at home to ensure it continues to be a source of pride for the community.<br /><br />Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, who is President of the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA), said parents, therefore, have a responsibility to see that the language is spoken in their homes.<br /><br />"Obviously, one way to preserve the language is to record it, conduct a research or put it in film.<br /><br />"But the basic step is for parents to speak it at home since the mother tongue is learnt through listening," he said at the launching of "Sinsindion Kadazan" book written by ex-Water Department Director Datuk Cosmas Abah.<br /><br />Pairin, who is also Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Rural Development Minister, said it is also easier for children to learn and master the language if deliberately spoken at home.<br /><br />Earlier, Kadazandusun Language Foundation Chairman Tan Sri Simon Sipaun said hundreds of tribal languages around the world are facing the threat of extinction. He said many words in the Kadazandusun language that are used to describe the community's daily lives are no longer used in conversations today.<br /><br />"Hence, it is important for all of us to consciously and deliberately develop and preserve the language," he said.<br /><br />However, he said the Kadazandusun, being a minority group, is having a hard time to preserve the legacy, heritage and language of the community. In this respect, Pairin said the community must make an effort to ensure the language is not lost.<br /><br />"If we all have this realisation to make it a point to speak it, we can perpetuate the language," he said.<br /><br />Citing Latin, he said the language is supposedly no longer spoken but religions such as Christianity have ensured the language prospered and continued to be used.<br /><br />When imparting the language, he said there must be consensus as to what standard dialect is used.<br /><br />"It doesn't matter which dialect should be used because we can't be groping in the dark and lead the people astray. "So, in future standardise it and when you teach others the language, teach in the dialect you know best," he said.<br /><br />On the book by Cosmas, Pairin said the Kadazandusun community should emulate him by attempting to write books in the language.<br /><br />He said the language was not really given prominence in print form since not many from the Kadazandusun community have the urge to put in paper their thoughts, ideas and knowledge.<br /><br />The book, a collection of 113 poems written through observation, environment, feelings and the spur of the moment, he said is a good reference material for the younger generation.<br /><br />Cosmas said he was inspired to jot down his thoughts on paper in 1992 when he was still the Director of the Water Department.<br /><br />Initially, he said it was meant to educate the consumers of their responsibility to preserve water.<br /><br />The poems, he said, were basically about culture, peace, love, social, patriotism, and environment as well as golf, of which he is an avid player.<br /><br />He said he would be publishing his second book on the same subject matter in the near future.lx_d@rtistehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01269676475358006089noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184119570069545127.post-13892024057352308072009-12-13T12:49:00.001+08:002009-12-13T12:50:51.685+08:00NON-NATIVE TEACHING KADAZANDUSUN IN SCHOOLS<span style="font-style:italic;">Source: http://akimomogun.blogspot.com/</span><br />10 December 2009<br /><br />Reports By BERNAMA<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">KOTA KINABALU</span>: Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjong Malim, Perak, is offering Kadazandusun language as a minor programme beginning next year as part of its efforts to produce trained graduate teachers in the language.<br /><br />Its Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Dr Abdul Ghani Abu, said that for a start, 20 students currently taking Malay language studies at the university would be selected for the course.<br /><br />"These students will graduate with two majors, in Malay language and the Kadazandusun language," he said when closing a workshop on Kadazandusun language in Kota Kinabalu Thursday.<br /><br />He said the Kadazandusun programme would be carried out simultaneously with the Iban language."UPSI is now recruiting lecturers for the purpose where we need at least seven people for each language," he added.<br /><br />The teaching of Kadazandusun was introduced in 1997 in 15 primary schools in Sabah. The language was made one of the subjects in the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination for the first time this year.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">My Say:<br />This should be a reminder to Kadazandusun parents to speak in their own langauge with their children at home. Kemudian selepas 1960-an, suku Tanggara di Penampang dan Papar mula memanggil mereka sebagai orang Kadazan, manakala suku dan subsuku lain masih menganggap diri mereka sebagai orang Dusun (Hamiddun Udin 1991, 58). Menurut Reid (1997, 120), dalam operasi bancian penduduk yang dikendalikan di <st1:place st="on">Sabah</st1:place> sehingga tahun 1960, istilah 'Dusun' digunakan untuk mewakili semua suku dan subsuku Kadazandusun. Istilah 'Kadazan' hanya muncul dalam operasi bancian penduduk di <st1:place st="on">Sabah</st1:place> pada tahun 1970. Keadaan sedemikian menimbulkan perbalahan di kalangan orang Kadazan dan Dusun tentang panggilan yang mana satu harus digunakan untuk mewakili rumpun mereka.</span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:85%;">

Bagi beliau dan penyokongnya yang tinggal di sekitar daerah Penampang, Putatan dan Papar (bahagian Pantai Barat Selatan Sabah),kata 'dusun' dalam bahasa Melayu yang bermaksud 'kebun' membawa konotasi negatif. Reid (1997, 126-127) pula mengandaikan kata 'kadazan' mungkin berasal daripada kata ‘kakaadazan’ yang bermaksud 'pekan'. Ada sesetengah pengkaji yang menyatakan bahawa kata 'kadazan' itu sama dengan kata 'kadayan' atau 'kedaian' (people of the town). Namun begitu, Stephen dan penyokongnya mengatakan kata 'kadazan' bermaksud 'orang kita' (our people).</span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:85%;">

Dalam persidangan tersebut, panggilan Kadazan diluluskan dengan undi terbanyak. Akan tetapi, isu ini tidak berhenti setakat selepas persidangan yang dianjurkan oleh UNKO. Terdapat enam orang wakil yang mewakili kawasan seperti Ranau, Tuaran, Kiulu dan tiga lagi kawasan lain tidak berpuas hati dengan keputusan undi dalam persidangan yang dianjurkan oleh UNKO. Mereka berpendapat bahawa majoriti wakil dalam persidangan itu terdiri daripada penyokong Donald Stephen yang datang dari Penampang dan Papar.

Ekoran daripada perkembangan persidangan UNKO 1961, mereka yang tidak berpuas hati telah menubuhkan satu pertubuhan baru yang dikenali sebagai <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 204, 0);">United Sabah Dusun Association (USDA)</span> pada tahun 1967 (Reid 1997, 133). Dengan itu sehingga tahun-tahun 1980-an, persatuan kebudayaan orang Kadazandusun dibahagikan kepada dua, iaitu Kadazan Cultural Asociation (KCA) dan USDA. Keadaan sedemikian berlanjutan sehingga tahun 1989 apabila <span style="font-weight: bold;">Presiden KCA</span> pada masa itu, yakni <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 204, 0);">Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan</span> mengumumkan bahawa KCA akan bertukar nama kepada <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 255, 255);">Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA)</span>. Menggunakan <span style="color:#ffff00;">Dialek BUNDULIWAN</span> sebagai dialek asas pemiawaian dan pembakuan bahasa Kadazandusun dalam penulisan dan pertuturan di dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran Bahasa Ibunda Pelajar [<span style="color:#33ff33;">Pupil’s Own Language (POL)</span>].<br />2. Dialek BUNDULIWAN akan terus diperkayakan oleh dialek-dialek lain yang terdapat di dalam rumpun bahasa <span style="color:#009900;">KADAZANDUSUNIK</span> dan <span style="color:#009900;">PAITANIK</span>.<br />3. Untuk mengemaskinikan perkembangan bahasa KADAZANDUSUN, satu badan perunding yang dipanggil MAJLIS PERUNDING BAHASA KADAZANDUSUN SABAH (MPBK) dibentuk berfungsi sebagai sebuah badan rujukan di dalam aspek-aspek ejaan, penggunaan perkataan yang piawai, penerapan perkataan-perkataan dari dialek-dialek lain di dalam rumpun bahasa KADAZANDUSUNIK, PAITANIK dan bahasa-bahasa asing ke dalam bahasa KADAZANDUSUN.<br /><br />PERISYTIHARAN PERSETUJUAN ini dibuat berasaskan faktor-faktor berikut:<br /><br />1. Pada umumnya, dialek BUNDULIWAN, sebagai dialek asas dalam pembentukan bahasa KADAZANDUSUN, menerima kurang bantahan, jika dibandingkan dengan dialek-dialek yang lain, dari wakil-wakil kumpulan utama etnik berdialek KADAZANDUSUNIK dan PAITANIK, yang hadir di dalam simposium “Towards Standardisation of Kadazan Language” yang telah diadakan di Hotel Perkasa, Kundasang pada Januari, 1989.<br />2. Dialek BUNDULIWAN telah dikenalpasti oleh pakar-pakar penyelidik bahasa, khususnya Summer Institute of Linguistic (SIL) sebagai dialek yang mempunyai “Intelligibiliti” yang tertinggi di antara dialek-dialek yang terdapat di dalam rumpun bahasa KADAZANDUSUNIK dan PAITANIK.<br />3. Dari segi geografikal, dialek BUNDULIWAN diguna dan ditutur dengan lebih meluas oleh kalangan multi-etnik KADAZANDUSUNIK dan PAITANIK, jika dibandingkan dengan dialek-dialek yang lain, khususnya di daerah Apin-Apin, Bundu Tuhan, Inanam, Kota Belud, Kota Marudu, Keningau, Kinarut, Kiulu, Kundasang, Lingkabau, Menggatal, Paitan, Ranau, Sook, Tambunan, Tamparuli, Telipok, Telupid, Tongod, Tuaran, Ulu Kinabatangan, Ulu Penampang dan Ulu Papar.<br /><br />Kejayaan pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa KADAZANDUSUN di sekolah-sekolah sebagai Bahasa Ibunda Pelajar, adalah bergantung kepada banyaknya permohonan (tidak kurang lima belas ibu bapa pelajar) supaya bahasa itu diajar di sesebuah sekolah. Oleh yang demikian, penggunaan dan pertuturan dengan dialek-dialek BUNDULIWAN yang lebih menyeluruh jika dibandingkan dengan dialek-dialek lain dalam rumpun bahasa KADAZANDUSUNIK dan PAITANIK, sekurang-kurangnya akan dapat membantu menjamin kejayaan pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa KADAZANDUSUN. SAB 119 beralamat di Tingkat 1, Lot 7, Blok A, Sinsuran Complex bagi United Sabah Dusun Association (Selepas ini disebut <strong>USDA</strong>) sebagai pihak kedua.<br /><br />BAHAWASANYA, KDCA dan USDA, dengan penuh sedar dan keinsafan telah bersetuju mengenai perkara-perkara yang tertera di dalam Perjanjian Perisytiharan di bawah ini:<br /><br />1. Ia merupakan pendekatan alternatif terbaik untuk merungkaikan permasalahan <strong><span style="color:#ffff00;">KRISIS IDENTITI</span></strong> “Kadazan” atau “Dusun” yang telah mencacat dan melambatkan pertumbuhan serta perkembangan komuniti pelbagai etnik (suku) Kadazandusun selama ini yakni dalam aspek sosio-budaya, ekonomi dan politik sejak isu atau sentimen <strong>“Kadazanism vs. Dusunism”</strong> dipolitikkan seawal tahun 1960-an.<br /><br />Dengan <em>Gabungan Personaliti (Identiti)</em> dan KEYAKINAN yang KOLEKTIF dan KUAT, akhirnya komuniti pelbagai etnik Kadazandusun berjaya menubuhkan <strong><span style="color:#33ff33;">SATU IDENTITI BUDAYA</span></strong> demi satu komuniti yang BERSATU, BERKERJASAMA dan PROGRESIF.<br /><br />Akhir sekali, kita juga berjaya menemui Maruah dan Tali Persaudaraan dengan merujuk diri kita sebagai Kadazandusun, yang bermaksud: ‘Divinity in Humanity’.<br /><br />Merujuk kepada <strong>Kadazandusun Cultural Association’s (KDCA) Constitution, Article 6 (1)</strong>;<br /><br />“Istilah Kadazandusun ditakrifkan sebagai <strong>Penduduk Peribumi</strong> yang tinggal di Sabah dan merangkumi <strong>Kumpulan Dialek (loghat) Etnik</strong> seperti berikut:<br /><br /><em><span style="color:#33ffff;">Bisaya</span>, Bonggi, <span style="color:#33ff33;">Bundu</span>, Dumpas, <span style="color:#ffff00;">Gana</span>, Garo, <span style="color:#ffcc00;">Ida’an</span>, Kadayan, <span style="color:#ff0000;">Kimaragang</span>, Kolobuan, <span style="color:#33ffff;">Kuijau</span>, Lingkabau, <span style="color:#33ff33;">Liwan</span>, Lobu, <span style="color:#ffff00;">Lotud</span>, Lundayo, <span style="color:#ffcc00;">Makiang</span>, Malapi, <span style="color:#ff0000;">Mangkaak</span>, Minokok, <span style="color:#33ffff;">Murut</span>, Nabai, <span style="color:#33ff33;">Paitan</span>, Pingas, <span style="color:#ffff00;">Rumanau</span>, Rungus, <span style="color:#ffcc00;">Sinobu</span>, Sinorupu, <span style="color:#ff0000;">Sonsogon</span>, Sukang, <span style="color:#33ffff;">Sungai</span>, Tatana, <span style="color:#33ff33;">Tangara</span>, Tidong, <span style="color:#ffff00;">Tindal</span>, Tobilung, <span style="color:#ffcc00;">Tolinting</span>, Tombonuo, <span style="color:#ff0000;">Tuhawon</span>, Tutung.<br /></em><br />…dan individu yang menuturkan bahasa ibunda salah satu daripada dialek di atas, serta mempaktikkan tradisi, rutin dan budaya seumpamanya.”<br /><br /><strong>Nota:</strong> Istilah “KADAZANDUSUN” merupakan suatu ASAS dan LABEL ETNIK secara menyeluruh yang merangkumi Budaya, Etnik, Ilmu Bahasa, Dialek dan Pertuturan.</div>lx_d@rtistehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01269676475358006089noreply@blogger.com0
